The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan - As part of Naseej’s ongoing efforts to enhance partnerships and to open cooperation channels, especially with ambitious centers and institutions, Naseej has signed an agreement with the Center of Excellence (CoE) for Jordanian Public Universities Libraries, whereby CoE subscribes to ProQuest’s professional databases and information resources, as well as Summon Web-scale discovery service. The agreement was signed during SLA-AGC conference held in the Kingdom of Bahrain, March 2017, and in the presence of Mr. Hisham Darwish – Naseej Regional Director, Levant and North Africa, Mr. Anas Abdelhadi and Mr. Tawhid Al Sharif from ProQuest, Dr. Yusuf Abu al-Adus – CoE Chairman – as well as CoE’s board members.
This partnership provides researchers, students and faculty of Jordanian Public Universities access to ProQuest’s Academic databases and information resources, allowing users to search for any information easily.
From his part , Mr. Hisham Darwish said; “CoE’s subscription to ProQuest’s Academic information resources and Summon Web-scale discovery service offers seamless yet sophisticated search research and discovery services. This will boost up the scientific research for students and researchers across Jordanian public universities. Also, it will increase demand for full-text materials, thus augmenting users’ benefit from the new resources made available.”
In fact, CoE’s subscription to ProQuest’s Academic databases and information resources through Naseej is highly important as it makes ProQuest Central databases available for the first time for CoE’s constituents. ProQuest Central is the largest full-text database available in the market today. This resource provides access to 39 of ProQuest's most highly used databases, comprising more than 19,370 journals with a variety of content types.
This subscription will also allow CoE to search ProQuest SciTech Premium databases, offering ProQuest’s Science and Technology Journals which provide full-text titles from around the world, including science, business and industrial journals, as well technical reports, conference proceedings, government publications, and much more.
In addition, Summon Web-scale discovery service provides a unique discovery service based on a unified content directory, including more than 1.1 million academic titles. Summon Web-scale discovery service also allows full-text search across the majority of professional books, articles and scientific journals.
