The first of its kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Umm Al-Qura University, has signed with Naseej – the Arab world's leader in Knowledge Management Solutions – to implement the Sierra Library Services Platform from Innovative Interfaces.
The Sierra platform is designed to go beyond the traditional tasks of academic and research libraries. Its broader range of services support librarians in their strategic objectives to provide cutting-edge knowledge services to patrons. Sierra leverages the latest in deployment options, data models and software design to make daily processes easier, more efficient and more integrated than ever before.
H.E. Dr. Adnan Al-Harithy – Dean of Library Affairs at Umm Al-Qura University – confirmed; "We have solid relationship and partnership with Naseej for more than a decade. The Deanship of Library Affairs at Umm Al Qura University has great trust in Naseej for its continuous advice and support away from profitability considerations."
"We have adopted Sierra Library Services Platform," Dr. Adnan stated, "based on professional reports developed by our experts at the Deanship of Library Affairs. Sierra is the state-of-the-art technology available now for the management of academic and research libraries. We expect Sierra to achieve a significant qualitative leap in the management of the university's libraries and services to patrons."
Eng. Abdullah Al Turaifi – Naseej VP – commented: "Through our partnership with Innovative Interfaces, Naseej has fully localized the Sierra Latest Platform
to meet the unique needs of Arab users and Arabic libraries, and to overcome Arabic-related search and classification issues. Sierra APIs also enable seamless integration into other systems, which allows libraries to build their own applications and integrate them into their systems. Furthermore, the platform connects libraries with third-party systems, such as Banner Student and e-Learning platforms, as well as other systems used across the academic environment."
